Other vipassana meditation centers

These days there are many Vipassana meditation centers and retreats around the world. Here are only some of them.

Listing does not imply recommendation — use your good judgment, and “test the gold” always. Search the Web and ask around.

Only centers which do not charge fees will be listed here. If you know of any other good meditation centers, or have additional info about these listed, please tell us in the comments or contact the webmaster.

Thailand

Bangkok: Sathira DhammaSathan
“A learning community for peace and harmony founded in 1987, providing a variety of programs for people of all ages, genders, and walks of life. It is set in nine acres of trees, with lotus ponds, winding paths and meditative nooks.”
This is an amazingly beautiful place, in the middle of Bangkok. It has classes, workshops, and activities. It is also open for informal visits, and is a wonderful place to just be. If you wish, you can ask for a guide to show you around and answer any questions.
